Many investors buy the house next door, just because it is the house next door, and with little thought as to whether it is the right property for them. Whether a property is the right one for you or not will depend on your goals, your strategy, and your overall game plan.
A recent survey by Paragon Mortgages, The Private Rented Sector (PRS) Trends survey, of those existing landlords looking to expand their portfolios 36% are looking to buy flats/maisonettes and 36% are expecting to buy terraced houses.
More families and a diversified range of tenants is leading to investors providing a more diverse range of property.
According to ARLA buy to let investors have purchased:
Terraced houses 39.5%
Flats (new build) 20.4%
Flats (conversions) 12.8%
Semi-detached houses 19%
Detached houses 6.5%
Studio flats 1.8%
